"Nisha has been instrumental in the success of Chance to Dance - which is the city’s annual community dance festival.
The strengths she brings include:
- She is a very well known, networked and trusted in the community and professional dance world in Sheffield and Yorkshire.
- Her creativity has helped the festival develop and change its offer over the years, for example developing to be
more connected with BAME communities and dance forms.
- Her organisational skills have meant that complex projects have been delivered efficiently and to time -
which has allowed us to take creative risks and develop ideas.
- Finally, Nisha is an excellent team worker and collaborator who is a real pleasure to work with."
Mark Gamsu, Chair of Chance To Dance.
“It’s been a great pleasure working in this project with Nisha and the team of fabulous, talented and very skillful people, artists and teachers.
True celebration, multicultural, inclusive, caring and indeed very educational. It’s fabulous to be the voice for the community through dancing and acting.”

"Family Voice Sheffield have been working with Nisha Lall Dance for a number of months. Nisha runs a Bollywood class for women
that we work with. Nisha is a fantastic teacher, the ladies that attend love her class. Many of the women are socially isolated and
in the past have rarely taken part in group classes, but Nisha's class is different, they ask us when the next class will be running.
This is because she is a warm and friendly teacher that puts the ladies at ease. The choreography she uses is easy to understand,
even the women that aren't used to learning dance can pick up the steps easily. The ladies enjoy the music that Nisha picks,
and she always goes the extra mile, teaching some dances for women from their own cultures. Most importantly they have fun!
We would thoroughly recommend Nisha Lall Dance."
Janine, Co-Director Family Voice
"We have collaborated many times earlier too and every time it has been a beautiful and enriching experience.
However, Mehfil was class apart. Different professionals from varied dance styles and cultures all coming together
to create a synergistic piece that was so well received by the audience. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed
the entire creative process coupled with your professionalism and management which made it all run smoothly.
You have always been transparent with project aims and finances and this is really admirable.
Looking forward positively to working with you soon."
Charu Asthana, Dance Artist / Practitioner.
"I have tried a few other dance instructors then tried some private dance lessons with nisha
and must admit the lessons with nisha – I cannot speak highly enough.
I learnt so much more in half the time. She is exceptional at what you want to learn.
I mastered every move that I wanted to learn and more. Must try – you won’t be disappointed."
Karim Khan, 1-2-1 Client.
"I have studied dance with Nisha for several years, through Aim To Dance classes, regular private sessions
and as part of the performance group, Surayi Dancers. I have also participated in shows and showcases
choreographed and produced by Nisha, including The Beat and Mehfil.
Nisha is an excellent teacher and a delight to work with at all levels- classes are meticulously prepared,
professionally delivered and always with Nisha’s mischievous sense of humour. Feedback is given in
a sensitive and constructive way and my dancing and choreography skills have benefitted hugely from her tuition,
as has my confidence in solo and group performance .
Nisha has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of dance, choreography, music and performance
and she always strives to develop that knowledge with ongoing personal study.
She is a generous teacher who shares this knowledge with students of all levels, to bring context
and cultural background to the dance style being studied."
Linda Boruta, Class Member
"When I met Nisha Lall I saw her on stage dancing different styles, all of them were done with passion
and gracefulness. Then I knew she was the director, producer and leader of that event. I was amazed
by her professionalism and dance.
When we started to work together, I saw the great artist and group leader she is.
She involves community making a good network of people who like dance.
All the time she sets a safe and comfortable environment during the creative process,
rehearsals and show time. In this way, participants follow her enthusiastically to take classes
and to be part of any dance piece.
She always is very clear to lead the process and very creative to propose concepts, music, costumes,
props and scenary aspects. It was a great experience to work and dance with Nisha."
Alejandro Caro, Dance Artist / Teacher.
